The project was
delivered through design build P-3 process. Mechanical and
electrical costs were established at the proposal stage and
maintenance through the design and construction.
The new provincial
facility is designed to house 272 offenders in the Correctional
Wing, 84 clients in the Forensic/Psychiatry Wing, Administration
Areas, a large kitchen, a large laundry facility, gymnasium and
exercise areas and training areas, etc. The building has an
approximate area of 270,000 sq. ft.
The design
objective was to design a facility which his functional, safe,
secure, comfortable and energy efficient. Mechanical and electrical
systems are designed to be energy efficient and exceeds the
targets of MNEBC by more than 25%. The building has qualified for
CBIP funding for energy efficient buildings.
M & R provided
the design of mechanical and electrical systems. Electrical systems
included integration of fire alarm, security system and the control
of flushing of water closets in the cells. M & R carried out
commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.
