M&R Engineering Ltd. is looking for a qualified mechanical technologist/technician/engineer who will work closely with a Team Lead/Project Manager, completing detailed design and calculations of sprinkler systems and other fire protection systems including creation of fabrication drawings, as required. You will also contribute to the technical competence and production requirements of the discipline.

The successful candidate will join an established team of design professionals providing innovative solutions on challenging building design projects.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Produce Building Permit and Construction documentation principally for fire protection projects in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and Revit.

  • Creation of fabrication drawings in coordination with Fire Protection Contractors

  • Possess good knowledge of national and local building codes.

  • Exercise independent judgement in various design and engineering tasks.

  • Work with other design staff and take part in project meetings.

  • Review design and construction documents and ensure technical standards are met.

  • Prepare technical design for a variety of the following:

  • Detail design of Fire Suppression Systems including design layout and hydraulic calculations

  • Equipment selections and specifications

  • Draft and review systems using AutoCAD, SprinkCAD and Revit.

  • Effectively resolve mechanical conflicts with contractors during the construction phase.

  • Resolve technical issues and cost implications.

  • Conduct regular construction administration tasks such as site reviews and write site review/site instruction/change order reports.

  • Discuss design and construction issues with the Building Inspectors and Contractors.

  • Adhere to the company and client safety policies and practices.

  • Work effectively with designers/engineers with other offices.

Qualifications

  • Preferably five (5) years of experience in Fire Protection System Design.

  • EIT, P.Eng., Eng.L, CTech, or CET designation an asset.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and Revit.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Team player.

  • Application knowledge of office programs (including MS Office, Excel, Power Point, Word, etc)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
