Role Description
Reporting to the Mechanical Directors and as a PM, you will play a pivotal role in developing the team and will be responsible for handling multiple projects on a weekly basis. You will provide technical expertise, ensuring that projects are executed to the highest standards. You will serve as a mentor and source of encouragement for staff, fostering their professional growth as well as building and maintaining internal and external relationships. Your ability to evaluate, select, and implement designs that prioritize reliability, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency will be crucial to project success. You will be engaged in both conceptual and detailed design engineering, and you will prepare drawings and construction specifications to guide the execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage multiple jobs/projects on a weekly basis, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
· Provide technical expertise in HVAC, Fire Suppression, and Plumbing systems to contribute to the development of efficient and sustainable solutions.
· Mentor and encourage junior staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
· Supervise drafters and designers assigned to the project, overseeing work assignments, scheduling, mentorship, and conducting quality reviews.
· Coordinate meetings with internal disciplines, external consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors/fabricators to facilitate effective collaboration.
· Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate designs that prioritize reliability, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
· Engage in both conceptual and detailed design engineering to shape the project's technical aspects.
· Prepare drawings and construction specifications that guide the successful execution of projects while adhering to quality and safety standards.
Your Qualifications
With experience in project management, you are able to effectively manage staff and a wide range of projects. You have a relevant educational background in engineering and experience that make you great at problem-solving and decision-making. Your management skills are excellent, and you have a demonstrated history of leading with collaboration. Additionally, your technical expertise combined with flexible and adaptable problem-solving abilities, make you a valuable asset.
Your qualifications include:
· 5+ years of relevant work experience.
· Bachelor of engineering or applied science in mechanical engineering or equivalent; Registration or eligibility for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
· Technical expertise in the design of Plumbing, Fire Protection, and HVAC systems for commercial, healthcare, educational, institutional, or residential construction is necessary.
· Experience in project management, working on projects from early conceptual to detailed engineering; project start-up and operations support is an asset.
· Familiarity with green building certifications is preferred.
